Green & Gray

Green & Gray

Come again, and speak to me
in your honeyed voice, so rich and rare and sweet
those words you spoke as others sang
those songs sung clear as other speak.

You, who were an angel once
whose brow was innocence itself
dropped a sliver of your own
that only you could never find
and only you could ever know.

Is it true then? If we dust off our desires
will we find some small part unspent?
To you, whose fern-green youth is long since,
I look, and feel my colours change.
